This number is an enquiry line, not a collection counter. Outside weekdays 09:00-17:00, and on weekends and over the New Year period, the operator asks you to ask at the nearest station directly.
Before you call
- The line can check the holdings of all stations at once; outside weekdays 09:00-17:00, call the nearest subway station directly instead.
- To collect in person bring a passport, driving licence or My Number Card as ID; you pay your own travel cost to get there.
- Someone collecting on your behalf needs three things: a letter of authorisation, a copy of the owner's ID and the collector's original ID, and the item may not be released without all three.
- The operator also accepts enquiries by fax and email, but only replies on weekdays 09:00-17:00, so urgent cases should use the phone or a station.
Yokohama's municipal subway has a single enquiry line that can check every station at once on 045-211-6701, answered on weekdays from 09:00 to 17:00. The line only handles enquiries; the item itself is collected from the station holding it, and finding the right station first saves a trip. The official page does not advertise other languages, so prepare the date, line and a description of the item before calling.
Call script: Japanese, romaji and English
Replace every ◯ with your own date, number and name. These are example lines, not a promise from the office: whether the item is found, and the rules for pickup or shipping, are decided by the desk that holds it.
First inquiry: date, place and a description of the item

Common questions
Can I call in English?
The official page does not list service in other languages, so ask in Japanese. If the desk cannot handle the call in English, use the Japanese script below and ask them to speak slowly; language support can change, so confirm the current situation on the official page.
When is it easiest to get through?
Call right after the line opens at 09:00, or in the hour before it closes at 17:00. Lunchtime (12:00–13:00) is often unanswered. Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and the New Year period; outside these hours ask at the nearest subway station directly.
What happens after a week?
There is no single national rule: the office decides how long it keeps an item and when it is passed to the police or another desk. This number is an enquiry line, not a collection counter. Outside weekdays 09:00-17:00, and on weekends and over the New Year period, the operator asks you to ask at the nearest station directly. If the item has not been found yet, ask which desk is holding it now, for a reference number, and how long it will be kept.
Can someone collect or ship it for me?
The office decides whether a proxy can collect the item and which ID or authorization is required. If you have already left Japan, ask whether it can be shipped within Japan or overseas, and confirm the conditions and cost with the office. The collection script below has the questions to ask.
What is Native Call?
You can speak English, Mandarin, or Cantonese. The person in Japan hears Japanese, and their Japanese reply is translated back into your selected language.
- 1
Open the app and enter a supported Japanese number. International calling is built in; no Japan SIM needed.
- 2
Take turns speaking. Translation delay varies with the network, phone route and utterance length.
- 3
Repeat names, dates, times and outstanding steps before hanging up. A connected call does not prove the request was completed.
