The situation
The guest left his MacBook Air in his room at APA Hotel Shinjuku Kabukicho Tower and only started recovering it after returning to the US. By then the laptop was no longer at the hotel: it had been handed to Shinjuku Police Station.
What we did
- Followed up with the hotel on the stay details and its lost-item record.
- Traced where the laptop was held after the hotel passed it to police, instead of asking the original hotel again and again.
- Followed up on the documents needed for collection and clarified how an owner overseas could proceed.
- Helped arrange shipping the laptop back overseas.
Result
We confirmed where the laptop was held after the transfer and which collection documents were needed, and helped ship it back to the US.
