The situation

The owner was already back in the United States. The iPhone had been located at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Lost and Found Center, but the owner could not collect it in person. The job was to complete the proxy paperwork, make the physical pickup and arrange international shipping.

What we did

  1. 17 October 2026 β€” Reviewed the police notice, the phone case and lock-screen details supplied by the owner. Prepared a letter of authorization for collection by a representative.
  2. 17–18 October β€” Checked the owner's identification and signed form. Corrected the authorization so the name matched the identification, then received the replacement signed form.
  3. 19 October β€” Collected the iPhone and its case from the lost-and-found center. Sent front-and-back collection photos to the owner.
  4. 20 October β€” Added protective wrapping, packed the phone for posting and handed the parcel to Japan Post EMS. The postal receipt records a packed weight of 476.5 g.
  5. 20 October β€” Sent the owner the shipping update and tracking details privately.
