Since June 2025 the operator has also offered the find online chat, which accepts requests 24 hours a day and replies roughly between 09:00 and 22:00. Before you call

The Oedo, Asakusa, Mita and Shinjuku lines are Toei, and their lost property window is separate from Tokyo Metro's. The main line is 03-3816-5700, answered 09:00-20:00 every day with option 2 for lost property, and the official foreign-language line on 03-3816-5711 covers English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish and Portuguese. Items are held within the Toei system for about a week before going to the Metropolitan Police lost property centre, so enquire early.

What happens after a week?

There is no single national rule: the office decides how long it keeps an item and when it is passed to the police or another desk. Since June 2025 the operator has also offered the find online chat, which accepts requests 24 hours a day and replies roughly between 09:00 and 22:00. Items move from the finding station to being gathered around days 2-3, to the Toei lost property centre around days 4-6, and to the Metropolitan Police lost property centre from day 7. If the item has not been found yet, ask which desk is holding it now, for a reference number, and how long it will be kept.

Can someone collect or ship it for me?

The office decides whether a proxy can collect the item and which ID or authorization is required. If you have already left Japan, ask whether it can be shipped within Japan or overseas, and confirm the conditions and cost with the office. The collection script below has the questions to ask.
