The customer centre or a nearby station can search the shared lost property system. Unclaimed items are passed to the nearest police station after a period, and items from through services may also be held by Tokyo Metro or Tokyu.
Before you call
- If you took a limited express to or from Nikko or Kinugawa, note the train name, service number and your seat or carriage number.
- Describe the item's colour, material, brand and contents together, which reduces confusion with similar items.
- On through services such as the Hanzomon or Fukutoshin lines, the item may have travelled into Tokyo Metro or Tokyu territory, so tell the Tobu centre exactly where you got off.
- Once the item is found you collect it at the station holding it; the head office address is not a single collection counter, so confirm the station and its counter hours before you go.
Tobu lines run from Asakusa and the Tokyo Skytree area out to Nikko and Kinugawa, so an item may be left at a station along the route. Call the customer centre on 03-5962-0102, open 09:00-18:00 and closed over the New Year holidays, to find out which station is holding it, then collect it there with ID. Items from through services may have travelled onto Tokyo Metro or Tokyu, so be precise about the train and the place you got off.
Call script: Japanese, romaji and English
Replace every ◯ with your own date, number and name. These are example lines, not a promise from the office: whether the item is found, and the rules for pickup or shipping, are decided by the desk that holds it.
First inquiry: date, place and a description of the item

Common questions
Can I call in English?
Call to confirm. If the desk cannot handle the call in English, use the Japanese script below and ask them to speak slowly; language support can change, so confirm the current situation on the official page.
When is it easiest to get through?
Call right after the line opens at 09:00, or in the hour before it closes at 18:00. Lunchtime (12:00–13:00) is often unanswered. Closed over the New Year holidays.
What happens after a week?
There is no single national rule: the office decides how long it keeps an item and when it is passed to the police or another desk. The customer centre or a nearby station can search the shared lost property system. Unclaimed items are passed to the nearest police station after a period, and items from through services may also be held by Tokyo Metro or Tokyu. If the item has not been found yet, ask which desk is holding it now, for a reference number, and how long it will be kept.
Can someone collect or ship it for me?
The office decides whether a proxy can collect the item and which ID or authorization is required. If you have already left Japan, ask whether it can be shipped within Japan or overseas, and confirm the conditions and cost with the office. The collection script below has the questions to ask.
What is Native Call?
You can speak English, Mandarin, or Cantonese. The person in Japan hears Japanese, and their Japanese reply is translated back into your selected language.
