When your restaurant request needs a phone conversation, NativeCall gives you two ways to handle it: speak through live translation or delegate the Japanese call. This guide compares the costs and practical fit of each option. If the restaurant’s own booking page can complete your request, use its chosen process; a call cannot guarantee additional availability.
Native Call, also written NativeCall, offers two distinct options: an AI phone translation app where you participate in the conversation, and a delegated Japanese call service where AI calls first, then humans call to confirm completion. Neither guarantees a table.
Call yourself or delegate: choose your role first
| How do you want the request handled? | Choose | Billing and completion evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Speak with the restaurant and choose alternatives during the call | Translated-call app | Prepaid call credits; save the restaurant’s explicit booking or change confirmation |
| Hand over a brief and have the service follow through | Delegated task | Task quote; AI calls first, then humans call to confirm completion and report the result |
For delegated services, compare NativeCall vs YOROZU, NativeCall vs Moshi Moshi and NativeCall vs AutoReserve. The comparisons use official sources checked September 8, 2026, covering actual fees, human involvement, deadlines and unsuccessful-task policies. They do not infer success rates from demos or individual cases.
Choose by the problem you need to solve
| Your situation | First step | When a call helps |
|---|---|---|
| The official booking page has availability | Complete the restaurant’s chosen booking flow | Ask by phone if an important request cannot be covered in the form |
| Your overseas phone number or card is rejected | Check country code, verification instructions and existing booking status | Ask whether the restaurant accepts another official booking or payment method |
| The restaurant explicitly takes bookings by phone | Prepare the branch, date, party size and alternatives | Call using translation or delegate the restaurant call |
| You are running late today or need a time change | Follow your confirmation email; contact the restaurant if the deadline is close | A call lets you hear the response; delegated service is not a promise of immediate handling |
| You need to cancel | Use the original booking channel and save the cancellation confirmation | Call if that channel directs you to the restaurant; cancellation charges may still apply |
| You cannot find a booking page | Check whether reservations have opened, are full, or are accepted at all | Call only when the restaurant’s policy allows it; a missing listing does not prove phone-only booking |
Compare the cost and the limits
Booking fees, meal payments, deposits and cancellation charges are separate. Compare the full terms before paying.
| Method | Cost to check | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| Restaurant website or its chosen platform | The specific booking page’s charges and payment terms | Only the dates, seats and conditions the restaurant offers |
| Tabelog multilingual booking | Currently ¥440 per person as a system usage fee; meal extra | This fee and the restaurant’s cancellation fee are separate |
| TableCheck | Depending on the restaurant: prepayment, card authorization or a booking fee | Do not assume every booking is free or every card notification is a completed charge |
| OMAKASE | Reservation fee shown on the restaurant’s page | Confirmed reservation fees are generally non-refundable |
| Pocket Concierge | Course payment when the reservation is confirmed | A pending request is not a confirmed table |
| Hotel or card concierge | Your property’s or card issuer’s eligibility, fees and scope | Do not assume access to reserved inventory or every restaurant |
| Native Call delegated restaurant call | US$4 normally; US$20 for 20 or more guests; urgent handling adds US$5 | AI calls first, then humans call to confirm completion; the restaurant decides the outcome |
| Native Call translated call | Prepaid app credits; current charge shown in the app | You participate, and some phone numbers or routes are unsupported |

When online booking works, finish it there
Follow the restaurant’s official link and check the branch, date, time, number of guests, menu and cancellation deadline. Save the confirmation and check whether any payment or follow-up remains due.
Tabelog’s multilingual system fee is generally non-refundable unless the restaurant initiates cancellation; cancelling and rebooking incurs it again. On Pocket Concierge, a request initially authorizes the card, while confirmation triggers course prepayment. These details matter if you are tempted to submit another request because you have not heard back.
For a TableCheck card problem, use its 3-D Secure troubleshooting guidance. Calling a restaurant cannot make an unsupported card work or remove a required deposit. If your booking exists, follow TableCheck’s change instructions before making a replacement reservation.
When a concierge is useful
If you already have hotel or card concierge access, ask whether it covers your restaurant, what it costs and how long the request takes. Check the service attached to your exact card or stay.
For example, the JCB PLAZA Call Center lists reservation assistance for JCB merchants for eligible cards issued outside Japan, excluding prepaid cards. It also says it cannot intervene to change or cancel reservations you made directly. Do not assume the same conditions apply to every concierge service.
Delegate a call when you want someone to handle the request
Native Call’s restaurant service starts at US$4; reservations for 20 or more people cost US$20. An urgent option requesting handling within 10 hours adds US$5, shown before payment.
Native Call starts eligible routine tasks with AI calling in Japanese, then humans call to confirm completion. Task handling and the result report are completed within 24 hours of payment. No outcome, no service fee: paid web tasks receive a full refund, and app tasks receive their deducted credits back. The handling deadline does not guarantee a booking; availability, restaurant policies and the recipient’s response still decide what is possible.
Provide the official restaurant link and phone number, exact branch, date and time in Japan, party size, booking name, alternative times and dietary requests. State whether you already have a reservation. The service can ask about a booking, alternatives and basic dietary requirements, then report the response. Meal payments and deposits follow the restaurant’s official process and are separate from the call fee.
For a documented example of follow-up, read our anonymized restaurant cancellation case. It describes human follow-up and the recorded confirmation; it does not establish an automatic success rate.
Use a translated call when you want to speak yourself
The Native Call app is available on iPhone and Android. You can speak English, Mandarin or Cantonese; the restaurant hears Japanese, and its reply is translated into your selected language. The recipient answers a regular phone call and does not need the app.
The app is free to download and includes a demo. Live calls use prepaid credits without a subscription; check the current credit charge and pack price in the app. Most supported Japanese landline, mobile and 050 routes can be dialled, but some special numbers or carrier routes may not connect. Translation delay varies with the connection and what is said.
This suits a conversation where you want to choose among alternative times or answer questions yourself. Have the key details ready, speak in short turns and ask the restaurant to repeat the final arrangement.
What counts as a completed booking or change?
Look for explicit confirmation of the date, time, guest count and booking name, plus any payment or other requirement still outstanding. For a cancellation, save confirmation that the original reservation was cancelled and whether a fee applies.
A card receipt, connected call or message saying a request was received is not enough on its own. If the restaurant cannot offer your first choice, agree on the alternative before treating the task as complete.
Common questions
Can a paid calling service guarantee a popular restaurant?
No. A restaurant may be full, refuse third-party reservations or require a particular platform or membership. Native Call provides communication and a result report; its failed-mission policy does not promise a table.
Do I need a Japanese phone number?
Check the booking form’s country-code options and the restaurant’s contact requirements. Use a real number where you can be reached. If it is not accepted, ask the restaurant about an alternative rather than entering a made-up number.
Should I delegate a change for a reservation starting shortly?
Use the original booking instructions and contact the restaurant directly if time is short. A translated call lets you participate immediately once connected. Do not assume a delegated request will reach the restaurant before your reservation merely because payment succeeded.
Is calling cheaper than booking online?
It depends on the platform, number of guests, app credits and any service fees. A call also takes your time or requires delegated handling. Choose the restaurant’s accepted method and compare the full cost, including the meal and cancellation terms.
Already booked? Who handles a change or cancellation?
Start with the provider that holds your reservation. These policies were checked September 7, 2026; the actual booking and venue terms control.
| Option | Existing reservation and urgency | Fee or important limit |
|---|---|---|
| AutoReserve | Request changes/cancellation in your account; wait for restaurant confirmation. Within 24 hours its help directs you to contact the restaurant, with support messaging for cross-country cases. | Reservation fees vary, disclosed before requesting and charged on success. A cancellation request is not yet cancellation confirmation. |
| TABLEALL | Contact TABLEALL about its booking, including late arrival. Date/time changes require more than 14 days’ notice under its FAQ. | FAQ lists a nonrefundable ¥8,000/seat booking fee; first eligible modification free, later modifications ¥8,000/person. Partner inventory and venue terms apply. |
| TableCheck | Use the confirmation/account flow where available; contact the venue when it cannot handle the request, including late arrival. | Payment may be a hold, prepayment or venue charge. TableCheck says it cannot handle these venue requests on the restaurant’s behalf. |
| byFood | Check the specific reservation type and its change, cancellation and late-arrival instructions. | Seat-only concierge and prepaid courses differ; FAQ describes seat-only fees typically ¥2,000/person, separate from the meal. |
| JPNEAZY | Follow its email contact process and operating hours for its booking. | Course handling fees are 10–15%; table fees vary. Handling fees are nonrefundable after confirmation; restaurant cancellation terms are separate. |
| YOROZU | Describes Japanese phone-booking assistance, a local contact number and confirmation steps. Check post-booking support before ordering. | Page lists a ¥1,500 per-booking tier alongside a free promotion. Confirm the applicable offer and unsuccessful-booking policy at checkout. |
| Viber Out | You call the number and handle the conversation. Arrange language help separately if needed. | Credit/plan calling charges are separate from restaurant fees; connectivity is not delegated task completion. |
| Native Call | Choose a translated call you participate in or a delegated task with its stated deadline. | App credit billing and delegated-task refund terms are separate. Neither guarantees immediate contact or a successful change. |
If the venue rejects third-party or automated requests, follow its accepted channel. Ristorante i-lunga’s reservation page is one example with explicit AI/automated-booking restrictions. Do not treat such a restriction as something a different phone app can bypass.
Task add-ons: Japanese service number US$5, callback handling US$5 (both US$10), valid for your mission up to 60 days. We relay messages and call back to follow up; arrange before payment. Details and limits · Data-only eSIM calling guide
Need to contact the restaurant?
Use the restaurant's online booking or message channel when available. If a phone call is needed, choose delegated help or call with live translation.
The app is free to download and includes an in-app demo. Live calls use prepaid credits: 36 credits per billed minute for ordinary Japanese destinations and 60 for Japanese mobiles. Each call rounds up to whole minutes; no subscription is required. Check the app for the current pack price before purchase.
